2018-19 Players Awards Dinner


A full house & a great night had by all at the annual Players awards dinner.

There was a full house in the Hamilton Park clubhouse last Saturday evening for the Ards Rugby 2018-19 Awards Dinner.

1sts, 2nds, 3rds players were joined by a good representation from the Youth and Ladies Sections along with club alicadoos and parents for a great night with good food, good craic and more importantly great camaraderie.

Immediate Past Ards Rugby President Ashley Peden welcomed all to Hamilton Park and presided over the presentation of awards along with Wes Campbell who is President for the incoming season; past President Ricky Sadler compered the evening.

Award winners were:

Club Player of Year - Adam Faloon
Young Player of Year - Ryan Thompson
Club Top Try Scorer - Adam Carroll
Club Top Points Scorer - Adam Carroll
Under 20 Player of Year - Robert Hull

Critic's Cup - Dennis Nash
Rex Cavan Cup - Ricky Sadler
Sam Orme Shield - Paul Bond

1st XV Players Player of Year - Aaron May
1st XV Coaches Player of Year - Tom Arthur Donnan

2nd XV Players Player of Year - David Chivers
2nd XV Coaches Player of Year - Jimmy Gray

3rd XV Players Player of Year - Davy Thompson
3rd XV Coaches Player of Year - Davy Reid

U16s Players Player of Year - Brandon McCarten
U16s Coaches Player of Year - Sacha De Villiers

U14s Players Player of Year - Dylan Jones
U14s Coaches Player of Year - Adam Waycott

Ladies Merit Awards - Sian Owens
Ladies Merit Awards - Natalie Watters

Further presentations were made to outgoing Club President Ashley Peden for his outstanding work in leading the club during the last season.

1st XV Captain Andrew Foster received an award in recognition of his captaincy over the past two seasons.

Outgoing Youth Convenor Brendan O'Hanlon received a small token in recognition of his and his wife Angela's contribution to Youth Rugby at Ards.

Youth players Callum O'Hanlon & James McDowell received club ties in recognition of their involvement at representative level for the Ulster Rugby U17 squad.

Special mention to Committee Member Paul Bond and his wife Audrey who looked after the catering for the evening.

Well done to all players whether they won an award or not and thanks to all who made the evening a great success.
