A great Easter Saturday at Hamilton Park!

3 weeks ago By STEPHEN NUTT

Ards Rugby host a super day of rugby at Hamilton Park, with wins for the 1sts & 3rds followed by a great tour match

It was a full house at Hamilton Park on Easter Saturday.

The 1sts hosted Ballymoney and recorded a 26-21 victory.

The 3rds hosted Civil Service 2nds and recorded a 60-3 victory ahead of their Butler Shield final next Saturday and keeping them on track for a Regional League title with the final match away to Donaghadee on 14/04/18.

Then to finish off an Ards Youth select lost 30-13 to the touring Padua College squad from Brisbane, Australia.

The Ards team consisted of Ards Youth players and Regent House players aged 15-17yrs who have all benefitted from the coaching of the Ards & Regent House Rugby Development Officer Budge Pountney, joint Ards Head Coach & Regent House Medallion coach John West, joint Ards Head Coach Scott Young, Ards U16 coach Brendan O'Hanlon and new Ards U18 coach Ivan Shields.

The tour match was a great advert for Youth Rugby and showcased the talent coming through at Ards and Regent House.

This was the second match of Padua College's European Tour, on Thursday they defeated Old Belvedere and now go on to play matches in England, France & Belgium.

Post match, Ards Rugby President Ricky Sadler welcomed Padua College and presentations were made to the College, the captains & player of the match for both teams.

Both squads were then fed and watered and had the opportunity to get to know each other.

Well done to alll involved particularly Angela, Lena and the other Ards Youth parents who led from the front all day cooking burgers, serving teas & coffee and then helped to serve the dinner.
