Former Ards Rugby President and club treasurer Jimmy Campbell, has been awarded an MBE for his services to agriculture.

Former Ards Rugby President and club treasurer Jimmy Campbell, has been awarded an MBE for his services to agriculture in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Jimmy is a life member of our club and served on the Ards Rugby Executive Committee for many years and keeping tight control on the club finances in his role as club treasurer.

Jimmy was the Northern Editor of the Irish Farmers Journal from 1984 until 2013 and then retired from the journal in September last year.

Jimmy has also been chair of the Northern Ireland Agriculture Research and Development Council (Agrisearch) and currently holds the position of senior chairman of its board.

In his retirement Jimmy enjoys travelling with his wife Alison and still attends matches at Hamilton Park.

Ards Rugby outreach program During the month of June, Ards Rugby welcomed the Youth leaders and teenagers from the Glen Community Church as part of Ards Rugby’s outreach work.
