Since losing their All Ireland League status, Ards Rugby have been committed to rebuilding the club through the development their coaches and players.
Ards Rugby have restructured their coaching set up at all levels and recruited coaches in all sections. Opportunities for all coaches to attain their IRFU accreditations remain ongoing.
Many of the current senior squad have came through the Ards Rugby Youth section or have been recruited from local rugby schools including Regent House School, Bangor Grammar.
Ards Rugby currently develop rugby through the following programs:
1. Community Participation Officer - this is part funded by Ulster Rugby & the local council and involves Ards Rugby's Erin Hodgen, going into local non rugby playing schools and introducing these kids to rugby and helping to develop Rugby in the school. Hopefully attracting new players to Ards Rugby Youth & Mini sections.
2. Rugby Outreach at Ards Rugby aka ROAR program - Ards Rugby welcomes local youth clubs, societies & organisations to avail of their ROAR program.
3. Ards Rugby & Regent House Rugby Development Officer - this is a joint initiative by both Regent House and Ards Rugby to develop rugby at the school and Ards Rugby Club through the appointment of Budge Pountney (former Director of Rugby & Captain of Northampton Saints and Captain of Scotland). The emphasis is on the development of young players at both the school and club.
