Kircubbin lad Callum O'Hanlon has been retained in the Ulster Rugby U17 squad for summer training.
This is the third year that Callum has been selected to be part of the Summer training program with Ulster Rugby and it will entail Callum travelling to Rainey Endowed School on a Tuesday & Thursday evening in July & August for squad sessions.
Callum first came to rugby through the outreach work carried out by Ards Rugby's Roy Lawton at St Mary's Primary School in Kircubbin, this led to Callum joining mini rugby at Ards under the tutelage of Roy Lawton, Stevie Nutt & Alan Dawson.
Callum then progressed to Youth Rugby at Ards with his dad Brendan and Tony Bell coaching.
Callum has continued to develop his back play under the guidance of his dad and other Ards youth coaches including Ali Finlay & Ivan Shields.
Ards Rugby's senior coaches John West, Scott Young & Paddy McGrattan also mentor Callum and keep a watchful eye on his progression.
Newtownards lad James McDowell is another of member Ards Youth Rugby who is awaiting word in relation to the Ulster U18 squad.
James has been involved in the Ulster U17 squad and now qualifies for the U18 squad, James is a talented forward with all the attributes to progress in the game.
All at Ards Rugby are extremely proud of not only both Callum & James but ALL the Youth players who have committed to Ards Rugby.
Well done to all the coaches in developing these young players!!!
