Ards 2nds hosted Larne 2nds at Regent House hoping to avenge their defeat from earlier on the season.

Ards got off to a flyer when after 5mins flanker Matt Bell hit the line at great pace and ran in from the halfway line for a converted try. Ards 7 v Larne 0

From the kick off Ards were penalised for being offside and Larne reduced the lead to 7 - 3.

Ards scored a second converted try after 11mins when full back Mike Taylor counter attacked well the ball was recycled and Bell again made a linebreak before off loading to supporting prop Paddy Bond to cross the Larne line. Ards 14 v Larne 3

It was then Ards’ turn to soak up some Larne pressure, great Ards defence saw Larne repelled on several occasions. However after 30mins a Larne penalty close to Ards’ line was taken quickly and the Larne scrip up half went under the posts for a converted try. Ards 14 v Larne 10
Ards finished the half with a converted try when flanker Bell scored his second try after seizing on a loose lineout ball and crashing over. Half time: Ards 21 v Larne 10

Ards started the second half as they finished the first with replacement centre Oren Kisby finishing off a fine break by prop Benn Carlin, the conversion was missed. Ards 26 v Larne 10

Larne rallied again and after 65mins were awarded a penalty try after Ards winger HJ Torney was penalised for tackling the without the ball. Ards 26 v Larne 17

The remainder of the game was played out with no more scores but with both teams attacking and defending in equal measure. Final score: Ards 26 v Larne 17

A well deserved win for the 2nds and it was also great to see some Ards players returning to action, including Matt & Adam Warnock and Benn Carlin.
