On behalf of all at Ards Rugby, Ards Rugby President Paddy McGrattan would like to congratulate former British Lion, Barbarians, Ireland, Ulster, Queens, Ards & Regent House player Nigel Carr on being awarded an MBE for his services to sports and the community in the recent Queen’s Birthday honours list.

All at Ards Rugby know how humble a man Nigel is and in receiving his award he was quick to stress the honour is also for everyone who has supported him, from his parents, to teachers and team-mates,

“They have all contributed and hopefully I have contributed in some ways to the success and achievements of others as well,”

he continued

“I am a great advocate of sport, particularly in a Northern Ireland context, it has got great potential to bring people together.”
