Ards 2nds were punching well above their weight in a competitive and entertaining match at home against Belfast High School F.P. The home team was a mix of youth and experience.

The back row of Paul Hamilton, Matt Bell and Davy Thompson was in a different class to their opposition, continually punching holes in the their defence and knocking back their strong ball carriers.

Matty Bell put in a man of the match performance, scoring two of the team's three try haul and putting in a pulverising tackle deep in the Ard's half.

Ben Orr teamed up with Ben Carlin and skipper David Chivers in a powerful front row, that provided a ready stream of ball to the exciting back line.

Scrum half Ryan McDougall's distribution was excellent and allowed out half Gareth Wilson to release the home team's powerful set of backs on many occasions, one of which was rewarded with an excellent try from powerful number 12 Graeme Taylor.

Full back Adam Carroll showed great promise as a full back and kicker, landing two excellent conversions.

The second row of Andy McKeag and Adam Fry worked tirelessly, winning good quality line out ball.

All the players are to be commended for their stern defence and relentless and collective will to win.

This team has great potential and now looks forward to a successful season.
