Ards 2nds suffered a heavy defeat away to Randalstown last Saturday, however the score didn't necessarily reflect the performance. Randalstown established an early lead but Ards prop and skipper for the day Davy Michael pulled a score back which was converted by centre Adam Carroll.
Carroll also added a penalty conversion to make the half time score 14-10 to Randalstown. Unfortunately injury had seen Ards lose the physical presence of the returning Ben Orr.
The second half didn't go well for Ards, gifting Randalstown 3 tries and the referees whistle preventing Ards from scoring on 3 occasions.
Ards did manage another try through flanker Sam McVeigh, however the conversion was missed.
Despite the score many positives can be taken from this game, the performance of HJ Torney in second row, the leadership of Davy Michael and the age profile of the team.
Recent recruits to Ards Rugby Josh McBride, Curtis Blair and Jacob Scott are becoming more confident with every game.
All players are encouraged to attend training as much as possible as it is only by training together that mistakes can be eradicated.
